Holy Week '12

No, I didn't go out of town nor did I spend my Holy Week in a beach or resort... I spent it the way it should be: in the church, praying. It may not be as extravagant as yours, but this year's Semana Santa is special for me 'cause I spent it with God and with the best people on earth, my family. My titas, titos and cousins came over to celebrate Good Friday and Black Saturday with us. We had a seafood feast on both days, which is still appropriate 'cause we didn't eat any meat. Overall, my Holy Week was a happy and meaningful one.

Here's my week in photos. Didn't take much because a) I was busy enjoying b) laziness took over me.
Mom's bday in Padis.

My brother feel asleep in the luggage. Bwahaha. Uploaded the photostrip in FB.
Sweeet!
Kayenne's nail art by yours truly :D
Warm blue polish on my nails.
Hahahaha! The best score I had. I suck, I know. :P
P.S. Sorry for the low-quality photos, iTouch camera sucks.

Happy birthday to me!

Last week, I was all giddy and excited about my upcoming birthday. I have this pretty leopard-print mullet top that I haven't worn since I purchased it and I was planning to wear it on my special day. I had all my plans laid out: where to go and what to do. I wanted to have a full-body massage and/or a facial. I wanted to buy the shoes and accessories I've been eyeing on for months now. I was craving for Sashimi, too. I wanted my birthday to be a "ME-day". Selfish as it may sound, but, I haven't treated myself with something rewarding for God-knows-how-long (except for food indulgences).

So, it was all settled on my mind. Church-Wearelse-GlamZone-Terra-Enso. Church-Wearelse-GlamZone-Terra-Enso. Church-Wearelse-GlamZone-Terra-Enso.

Fast forward to the day before my birthday: All the excitement has taken its toll on me. Suddenly, I felt unexcited. That night, I wanted to sleep my way to March 21st.

I'm not quite sure why I'm feeling like this, but maybe because for the past few years, I've had "extra special" birthday celebrations.
March 2007 - Beach party with my high school barkada
March 2008 - Private pool party with my new college friends somewhere in Rizal. The day I paid P2500 for a damaged billiard table and broken glass.
March 2009 - My surprise debut party! My college barkada went to Dagupan for my birthday :)
March 2010 - The unplanned celebration in Mendiola with my college friends. First bday with C.
March 2011 - Went home to a filling lunch date with the family in Dagupan. Plus major gifts!

Maybe that's the reason. Or maybe not. It was 11.30pm, mnl time, a message popped out of my chat box... it was C! My frown turned into a smile. His nephew, Angelo, one of the cutest toddlers in the wooorld, also greeted me thru Skype. I was a happy girl.

I woke up to a lot of greetings in Facebook. I realized, one of the best things online is the birthday reminder. A small app can do so much to someone like me. Hundreds of FB friends greeted me like I was someone famous. I liked the attention! But not everything is perfect, just like any other day, I had problems to face. I didn't want to spoil my day over something/someone. It's my birthday, could you at least give me the freedom to be happy?

I dropped by the church late that afternoon. All my other plans didn't push through 'cause a) I wasn't in the mood anymore, and b) I'll be going to Manila this week, I'll do the shopping there.

My mom texted me to go to Cafe du Marc, one of our favorite local restaurants. As I entered, something pink and purple caught my attention. It was the prettiest bouquet of flowers I've ever seen! My dad said it came from him, but I doubt it! I searched for the tag and I was right, it came from C. I knew he had something in mind, I felt it. Haha. That moment made my day, it was the icing on my imaginary cake.

Birthday girl, Cafe du Marc's Lengua Juliana, Bouquet from C aka "The prettiest bouquet ever"
The entire day was a roller coaster of emotions, like an unlimited Space Shuttle ride. Thanks to everyone who sent in their greetings, I am deeply touched by each one of them. To C and his family, thank you so much! And of course, to my family, thanks for squeezing in a little time to have dinner with me. :)

"Pookahh" birthday

030712

It was a small and simple gathering; family and a few friends came over to celebrate Biboy's birthday. The party had the theme of Angry Birds, as requested by the birthday boy himself. Their house was full of Angry Birds stuff: balloons, loot bags, giveaways, cakes. He is obviously hooked!

Happy birthday, Biboy! :)

Birthday surprise

The birthday: It's our dear Princess' 4th! Bastian and I were running in late for the party 'cause of traffic but luckily, it hadn't started yet. I was so excited to see them all! Being with C's family made me miss him even more.

Anyways, Princess looked so sweet in her dress which quite reminded me of Cristine Reyes' color-blocking ensemble in the movie No Other Woman. Agree? She even had a tiara on. Such a darling!

The party went well. It was kind of nostalgic, actually. I remembered the parties my parents used to throw for me and my siblings.

The surprise: I had just discovered my allergy for shrimps. My upper lip swelled after eating a few. But why??? Why does it have to be seafood? Why can't it be, let's say, corn? I love shrimps, especially when they're buttered and with lotsa garlic (Oh hello, Boracay 2005!). Oh well, a swollen upper lip won't stop me from consuming those yummy crustaceans. *evil laugh
